About Scawin Society

SCAWIN is a charitable and nonprofit society, carrying out its development activities since 2007 in the leprosy dwellings of North East of Delhi of Tahirpur area and rural areas of Uttar Pradesh of Meerut district. Scawin is an initiative for Women and Children who are in need of social, educational, economical and physical development. Women and Children are more vulnerable in the slums, sub urban areas or the leprosy communities of India. But our focus will be to exercise our activities in the leprosy communities which are isolated, discriminated and do not have that much of access to the resources as the areas and the communities in the cities have.

Emphasis will be laid on serving Women and Children of the leprosy affected families along with the other backward communities. There will be no area of development untouched in the process of their development. This is a strong belief of the society that all families of the leprosy affected be covered to experience a visible change. India is succeeding well in the world arena of economic development and giving tough challenge to the developed and the developing countries. The universal development can only be achieved by empowering these vulnerable communities socially, economically and politically. Their empowerment can be made possible by bringing them to platform where all the citizens enjoy the equal advantage of development. The purpose of Scawin working among these people is to empower them so that they are enriched to shape their own destiny. The Scawin is executing the development activities in the suburban and rural areas specially the leprosy colonies to reach out to maximum number of leprosy cured Women and their children who are socially, economically and politically, culturally disadvantaged. The society firmly believes in the holistic development in its totality of its community people.

Therefore all efforts are made to bring a positive change in the overall situation of these people by introducing number of activities for their development. This is the strong belief of the society that a unique social order can only be maintained by involving targeted intervention area. The society is benefitting almost all the sections of leprosy communities e.g. Women, Children, Senior citizen, physically challenged and destitute etc.
